| posted: 10/4/2003 at 7:58:01 PM ET I've been having this puzzling decision all week, Oboe or Clarinet? Clarinet has a low yet high sound that sounds nice, and the Oboe has that really nice low sound like the cello.
Both are relaxing and really fun to play. Some opinions would help me decide. Thanks in advance

The clarinet has a MUCH mellower tone quality than the nasal sounding Oboe. "What's the best way to get 2 oboe to play the same note?" Shoot one! "What's an Oboe good for?" Setting a Bassoon on fire.

If you choose the Oboe, make sure you have access to a private teacher who actually plays the instrument so they can help you with any double reed issues. Many technical issues of the oboe are unique to the oboe in the woodwind family.
