If you're looking for a great midlayer for cold-weather activities, there are a few options worth considering. Many are lightweight and breathe well, and many pack a lot of warmth into a minimal build. For example, the Black Diamond Coefficient has a gridded Polartec Power Dry fabric that traps heat inside the waffle-like construction, but still lets air move when you're on the move. This jacket is also built with an insulated design and an under-helmet scuba hood.

5.11 Tactical Promo are many options for midlayers, but you may be better off sticking with a down-filled midlayer or a synthetic version. These are the most functional layers, and are ideal for cold days when you're working out or spending time in the outdoors. Whether you choose a down-filled or an insulated midlayer is a personal choice, but it is important to know what they do.

A versatile midlayer can help you stay warm in any type of weather. One great option is a brushed-fleece jacket. This type of midlayer is lightweight and clings to your torso in just the right places. It's available in a variety of colors, including black and pale pink. This jacket also features a built-in balaclava for extra warmth.

Patagonia's Nano-Air is another great option. This synthetic midlayer is stretchy and breathable, which means it will keep you warm without the bulky feel. This midlayer is also windproof and water-repellent. It's a popular choice for backcountry skiers, climbers, and everyday wear.
