Damascus skinning knives are made with two different types of steel, allowing them to be incredibly strong and durable. The Damascus process requires high-carbon steel folded over itself, creating dozens of layers. This process makes for a solid blade. There are several reasons for this strength; one reason is that the folding allows the high carbon steel to bond together into one solid piece.
