I would like to know the name or word used to describe an introductory verse, used often on the old popular songs, that would explain the setting or place or why the singer was singing the song. It was sometimes used to explain why a man was singing a song written for a woman or vice-versa. It was usually about as long as the first verse but was not usually sung as part of the song.
