Registered: 12/12/2003 | posted: 12/30/2003 at 3:38:40 PM ET my father and brother played the bagpipes..my other brother played drums..i had no interest..now that i'm older...i am learning clarinet and my son..aged 9 is excellent at saxophone....the other boy is learning guitar....does anyone out there think it really is in the genes...or what??...i recently had a great desire to just play something woodwind...i am female....am i menopausal...is life passing me by...am i drunk....have I just grown up.....or am i just an excited wee lassie....I don't know....

Actually, it's been scientifically proven that people with musical talent in their genes are more likely to have a musical talent somehow or other. It's a complicated genetic experiment that took place about 5 years ago and I'm just remembering it now that you mention it because it was in the newspaper.
