Cabaza is spanish for head. Lechuga cabaza is a lettuce head.

You mean cabeza. Cabeza is head, not cabaza. A head of lettuce is a lechuga cabeza, not that it's even relevant.

The instrument you are looking for is "cabasa" not "cabaza". It is a Latin percussion instrument. It is help in your hand and it looks like it has a row of metal beads all around it. The player then twists it back and forth in the hand to get the sound. It is a very neat and original sound!
