Learning the tuba over the summer would be the easiest. Oboe, Bassoon, and French Horn require so much technique to play well that it would be a MAJOR undertaking. The Sax is initially fairly easy to play but has many hidden problems that you may not be able to grasp quickly. The problem I have with your idea is, you want to start out being a front man with no experiance. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

| posted: 9/24/2004 at 5:17:40 PM ET I don't know if this is the same for you but where I live the flute is a very an uncommon instrument. In my band there are seven flutes players. Not a lot for a band made of almost 150 people now is it? Anyway if you practice hard you can learn the flute basics during the summer but as any other instrument don't expect to just magically pick up the instrument and be able to play. I Play the flute and others may think its "geeky" but the flute is also used in many famous rock bands (yes i know hard to believe) but if I were you I would listen to what you have to say. I gave you my suggestions and I hope this helps.
