Imagine five quarter notes in a 4/4 measure, grouped with a bracket like that of a triplet, but instead of a number "3" there would be a number "5" in the bracket. Draw a 4 inch line on a piece of paper. Cannot this line be divided into any number of equal segments? It could be divided into 5 equal segments, or 13 equal segments. The same is true with a measure in music. How the measure would be counted is yet another story. www.ipracticemore.com
