If you want to learn to play by ear(and I would say the best ways)to do it is to play with a group of musicians. Perhaps someone in the group will be willing to teach you. Or find a lessons teacher that would be willing to teach you as well. Another way is to download ear training software.

| posted: 10/31/2003 at 8:32:58 PM ET Just listen to the song,note , you want to play, hum it to yourself a couple of times and play around with your instrument until you get the right sound. Keep practicing and you'll be able to do it by ear in no time!
