I wondered what speed I should set the metronome to when I am practicing. There are so many numbers that I'm just not certain which is best for a beginner.

each piece of music calls for a different amount of beats per minute. If you're playing scales or whatever else, simply set it to what is easiest to you, and maybe gradually speed up. Try slower to work on vibrato.
