I have a final exam coming up and my band director expects us to play a solo. I was fine with it until I saw it was in 6/8. I know how to read 4/4, but really need help with 6/8. PLEASE HELP

Hello. In 6/8 time each eighth note gets one beat and there are six of them in a measure. Beats one and four are most often the strong beats. (ONE two three FOUR five six). Try chanting that pattern to yourself repeatedly saying one and four louder to get a feel for the meter. Often times music that is written in 6/8 has many dotted quarter notes which take up half of the measure. I hope these ideas help. It is difficult to help long distance.
