What does it mean when a treble symbol is placed bass line (or vice versa) in the middle of a song?

If you are using a piano score, it means you use your left hand in the treble range (above the middle C).

No, the notes would change as well. It just means that both hands will be playing in the same clef. For example your right hand may be in like the 6th octave of the piano and your left hand may be in the 5th octave. Either way you would still read in the clef that is present.
