Just got back from my lesson and I spoke with my teacher, she was understanding and we set time that ties in with a young student who is ahead of me. We might get started a little late, but that's okay, I know that she teaches at public school, just as long as this arrangement lasts. Time will tell.
Thanks for being there.

I was ready to split as I was writing the first post - it's a good thing that I had a few days to cool off. She really is a very good teacher and her fees are very reasonable for New York.
Hope that it lasts and only time will tell. I'll keep my toes and fingers crossed. It really helps to have all of you out there. Wouldn't it be great if we could all meet one day.

When you say reasonable for New York, what does that run to per half hour, or hour?
Here, in a semi-rural coastal area, fees run around $AUD30 per hour for private lessons, and around $AUD50 per hour for casual teaching in schools,

Registered: 11/18/2004 | posted: 10/5/2006 at 11:38:49 AM ET The cost of lessons are all over the map - my teacher charges $60 per hour, but I've been with her for a good while and I don't know what she charges new students.
I've seen fees has high as $100 plus and some around $50 per hour - I really don't know what fees would be for a half-hour. Some Mannes College of Music has group lessons and I think Juilliard does - but even that is up there. To be honest, I really wouldn't want to be part of a group, can't see how that can possibly work.
Maybe some other posters can pitch in. It's hard to find a good teacher, but that's universal. I can watch a dance class and can tell in a few minutes if the teacher is a good teacher or not, music is so different and I suppose the only way to tell is to take a few lessons but the only thing I would have to go on is "gut instinct" and hope I'm right. Hope that day dosen't come, but this time will be prepared to make a move.

I can give piano lessons for free. The downside being that you learn very little, but hey, you get what you pay for. LOL
