I would really like to learn violin eventually, however, it is likely a difficult place to start.
i am an appreciator of music but, at the same time, a novice.
thanks

If you want to learn violin I would strongly suggest finding out if there are any Suzuki Strings classes in your area. Suzuki is a great and time tested method for learning to play an instrument, and as you are an older student you would likely catch on very quickly.
Piano is also a great place to start, but I would tend to agree with Pete. If you are interested in the violin then there is no reason to not start with it right away.
Good luck!
