Well, I play the clarinet, and it's pretty easy, but when you get past the third octave B, it gets hard to make it sound good without perfect embouchure. Plus all the keys. But once you get it 'memorized' it gets alot easier.

I think that there is no real HARDEST instrument to play, Theremin is difficult because there are no frets, buttons mouthpieces or strings, you have to rely on spatial awareness. Guitar is difficult because to start off with it hurts, and to be the best guitar player is impossible, as pretty much all the speed boundaries and pitch boundaries of the instrument have been completely broken, although i think it is the best and most fun instrument to play and can imitate other instruments pretty well. Violin and double bass are difficult aswell, the spacing of the notes is hard to figure out and i usually have to memorize certain wood markings on the neck so that i can play the notes! keyboard and piano are the easiest instruments, as they are easily accessible, easy to play any range of notes with, easy to learn and easy to look good with, but kazoo is definitely the easiest virtuoso instrument
horns can be hard as the tuning and mouth placing is all a bit guess-worky. banjo is difficult because of the complex fingerstyling and required speed, unless you just play chords and everyone hates a talentless hickey with an annoying folk instrument, lmao.
Vocals are difficult because you are playing your own body! and keeping that in tune and looking after it is more difficult than many instruments, because you can't keep yourself in a nice case for protection or turn your machineheads when you go out of tune or turn up your volume when you lose your voice! woodwind instruments seem like easy instruments, but i dont think anyone can be good at recorder, no matter how musically talented they are :S

I think the hardest instrument to play is the clarinet because it contains the most keys out of any insturment (excluding the piano). It also has a break which is very hard to master.
The flute is hard in which you need to learn to use your air the correct way.
Brass instruments aren't that hard to play (no offense).
The harp seems very difficult to master.
The string family itself seems like once you get the hang of it, everything else will be easy.
One last thing. In the end maybe instruments aren't hard to play, but the person who reads and plays the music to get the sound to come out of the instrument is.

I play the drums and its pretty hard

Most of you would think its easy because all you have to do it hits things but you need to use both arms, keep in perfect time, count in your head(you dont if your good) and use both your feet. Its hard to teach your brain how to deal with it and remember each sound from drum ( snare, L tomme, R tomme, basse drum and all the others)

Well, I do agree that most of them can be easy or hard, depending on your dedication. However, I feel that bassoon is one of the hardest, seeing as you really can't start on it. Normally, you'll start on clarinet, and the ombershure(Yeah, I butchured the spelling) is nothing alike. It was probably the hardest transition for myself, at leats.

That and the 8 keys for one thumb really does suck.

I think the piano is the easiest instruments to play. Not only are all the note right in front of you, but you don't have to mess aroundd with fancy breathing either.
