For example, the violin, viola, cello and string bass are all string instruments, then there are the brass instruments: tuba, trumpet, trombone, etc. There are the woodwinds: flute, oboe bassoon etc and the percussion section snare, tympany, cymbals, tambourine, claves etc. The instruments in these sections are related in how they are made and played.
