Its really hard for me to hit the low notes below middle C on my tenor sax. Sometimes it turns out to sound too high or to sound like nothing but air. Can someone please help me.

As you go below f on the sax, separate your teeth a little more. This allows MORE, SLOWER air to flow into the horn making it easier for the lower notes to sound(much like playing lower notes on trumpet). Remember, don't loosen the embouchure when you do this.

um..thank you. it really did help. I thought my saxophone was just broken. I guess not,but I do have one more problem. I've been trying to teach myself how to play saxophone without a proper techer and i've been having trouble tongueing into the mouthpeice. I understand about the embrossure and all, but my problem is tongueing. A lot of woodwind players have told me to put the tip of my tongue on the tip of the reed. Well when I do that i end up cutting my tongue on the reed and I end up ruining the reed. Can someone please help me understand the tongueing portion of woodwinds.

Your tonguing technique is ok, you're doing too hard. Try tonguing easier. Think of how you tongue on trumpet and do the same. The easiest and lightest tongue is to tongue by using the "T" syllable.

well, I would suggest, take your pace slower. And once you got it at a slow pace, increase your speed little by little. And pretty soon you'll probably get it. :]
