i am learning honor thy father from dream theater and its one of the most confusing songs ive had the pleasure to read first off i need some help with the time signatures how would i go about counting the time in 9/4 and 6/4

in both the top number is how many beats per measure. the bottom number is what the basic quarter note is worth. in 6/4 time each quarter note still gets 1 count, but there can be up to 6 quarter notes in one measure.
