Just saw a newsclip from Austrailia ringing in the New Year with great fireworks, looked beautiful and festive - open a bottle of champagne and celebrate.
Lets all hope for peace in 2006.

Suzyq, I took the family to the beach for the day, and rather than champers, opened plenty of beers in between dips in the Pacific..things could be worse

You and your family are so lucky - sunshine and the beach, New York is cold and rainy and the were prediciting snow showers.
Typical for this time of year.
A friend of mine had free tickets to the Metropolitan Opera New Years Eve Matinee.
Wozzek - composer Alban Berg, it's the first and the last time I'll see this Opera. terrific cast, depressing subject matter and to be honest, I did not like the music. Someone told me it's atonal. It was an experience and something to do, the price was right.

There are a lot of advantages in having Christmas and New Year in the middle of summer, although the red-faced, sweating Santas may not agree.
Berg? Berg sounds to me like Phillip Glass on steroids...they should have paid you to attend.

Registered: 11/18/2004 | posted: 1/1/2006 at 7:30:30 PM ET The price was right Pete, the Met is a big house and not exactly full. There were no intermissions just short scene breaks and a few people left each time. I finally gave up and left at the last break. My friend toughed it out. He said he thought it was a "paper house", his friend is an usher at the Met and he was given 8 free tickets to give out, so I guess that tells the story.
There's always a first and alast time
Let's enjoy 2006.
