excuse me but that is a horrible and highly offensive comment to make. i am appaled by it. do u know all the rap fans in the world? no, you don't cos u don't know me. that's a horrible thing to say. i am a rap fan, i don't do drugs, i have a well payed job, i like expensive books and all that stuff you said. that is a biased post and i am truly horrified by it. u can't judge people you don't even know. you can't say everyone does drugs just because they liky rap music. i think you're being truly horrible and does anyone have any comments to make on that?

It all goes back to taste. What makes your favorite color your favorite (you could argue that you like it because you associate it with something pleasant...but we'll ignore that to compare it to music) Although many rap lyrics are irreverant (to say the very least) the beat is what a lot of people like...i don't think you can control what kind of music makes you feel good. If you do a survey of favorite colors across the socioeconomical classes there would be no pattern...I think the same is true enough for music. I don't claim to be an expert...I don't care for rap...I'm a rock/classical/electronica kinda girl (probably the only time you'll hear a 14-year-old say that!)

Good, because now you realise that sterotyping music styles by comments such as ""I don't think classical music is art or really music, all it is is piercing noises which go right through your body like an electric shock."" is offensive and non-productive, which was the aim of my post.
I forgot to include the pathetic miss-spelling of words, such as "'U"", in a pathetic attempt to be cool.

"u" is not an attempt to be cool, it's just for quickness. i think it's childish to bring up a topic about the way people type to try and win an argument. it's so lame. and when i said that stuff about the classical music, i said it as my opinion, you said the things about rap as if it was a fact, which it so isn't. you don't know that all rap fans are drug addicts, all of my friends are into rap and i can assure you that none of them are drug addicts thank you very much

We could go back and forth with this issue for years I suppose, and not many minds will be changed, but I would like to reitterate one point, and that is the vulgarity, degredation, and hate in much of the rap. If most people listen for the beat, then why not listen to the music that is used as background. By buying the stuff that is evil, you are making some low life scumbag criminals rich, just for the sake of a beat. It just doesn't add up. There are other more positive artists to choose from. Ther was an old song from the forties, which said accentuate the positive, and eliminate the negative. It still holds true today. It's kind of like hate the sin, not the sinner.
