Rap itself is not music, but rather, social commentary, with music sampling in the background. Some of the ideas are of some value, but most of it is violent and hateful. Much of it is degrading to women, and other social groups who don't share the same mindset as the rappers. Rap is kind of a modern day version of the "beatnicks" of the 50's and 60's, but with much more rebellion, vulgarity, and hatred. I can classify it as neither music nor art. Even Frank Zappa wasn't as vile as some of these so called artists, one of which is "Eminem".I do not apologize for my opinion, because I find no social value other than reinforceing to my sons, that these ideas are an example of what is wrong in the world. I would recommend broadening musical horizons to those whose mainstay is rap. There is so much beautiful music in every genre to choose from.

I am a fragment of my imagination

that's your opinion, fine, but i can think of lots of people who live in the modern world who would totally disagree with you about that. I don't think classical music is art or really music, all it is is piercing noises which go right through your body like an electric shock. i don't apologise for my opinion and i would love to hear othere peoples views on rap please.

Classical music is suppose to help you perform in school, but in my experience classical music makes me go to sleep.(Sorry to those who enjoy classical music). Since rap is very upbeat it keeps me wide a wake. I especially like how the car vibrates when the bass is turned up and the volume too. Some peolpe enjoy more than one type of music, for instince I enjoy listening to rap and also to jazz.

i totally agree with that post, raqp is so lively and full of energy. the thing about rap is, it doesn't matter what they're rapping about and what they're saying, it's all about the beat and the vibes you get from it. anyone agree?

i forgot to add that i think all classical music sounds the saem, you can't tell it from another piece because there's not really a beat or jazzy anything that keeps you remembering the song but every piece of rap is dofferent, it's very original. any comments?

Rap is a music style which is designed to appeal, and fit,and be saleable from the point of the lifestyle choice of those who consume it,(and music of all styles is a product made to be consumed, just like McDonalds) just as is
Country and Western.
Drug-using, unemployed or on a very basic income, semi-literate with no idea of travel, or good food, or good wine or books, and with poor health outlooks, reduced life expectancy, poor grammer and the vocal skills of a Budgie on Rhyhypnol and under 40 describes the majority of Rap fans. Replace the drug-using with beer -drinking, and change the age range to over 40 and you have the Country and Western fans.
Same goldfish mentality, different bowl, but a great market for dull, predictable music which requires very little thought, and therefore very little effort.
