Nothing can take the place of practice - maybe it will be easy for you. Keep us up-to-date and do check out the piano world - they have an adult beginners forum - beginners of all ages check in and everyone is very helpful and friendly, it doesn't matter what your level is. Keep at it.

Registered: 11/18/2004 | posted: 8/2/2005 at 5:34:59 PM ET How long to practice varies from person to person. If I'm not working I practice from 1 1/2 - 2 hours with a very short break - sometimes a little longer. When I am working, I try for at least an hour, but don't always make it - too tired at the end of the day.
I think that once you start your practice session, you;ll know when to stop - or take a break.
Forgot to ask, do you have a teacher? and I'm really happy that there's a friendly left-hander that is a member of this forum. My left hand is stronger than my right, and sometimes it's a little tricky, but I'm getting there.

| posted: 8/2/2005 at 5:48:37 PM ET yes, i have a teacher, i just got him in january/ february, i can't remember when! he's very good and feels very passionate about music. he always says if you enjoy the music, and show that while playing and feel the music, it'll sound better. Is that true?

Registered: 11/18/2004 | posted: 8/2/2005 at 6:54:14 PM ET I agree with your teacher, but all this takes time - I wish I could play the way I "hear" the music - it's the nature of the beast - hopefully one day, I'll sit down at the piano and come close to playing the piano musically and with feeling.
It you get a chance, go to a live concert, or listen to the radio (I don't know what kind of music you like), get some cd's or borrow them from the library - you can learn a lot from listening to others play.
Anyway, it's fun to be able to do something we couldn't do a few days, month or year ago. That's an accomplishment - I always say, Carnigie Hall will just have to hold the curtain.
