Try them all and choose whichever one you like best. It doesn't cost that much to rent an instrument for a month or so from your local music store. Ultimately, you need to decide which one works best for you, not rely on the opinions of others.

When I was in high school, my younger brother played the alto sax, and I fooled around with it a bit, and it really sounded great. The tenor sax sounds nice too. Check out a guy named Jan Garbrek. He plays mostly tenor sax, and he's fantastic. That is if you like jazz. You'll be able to get an Idea of the range and different possibilities. Good luck!

i'm normally a flute player, but i play sax in jazz band. the bari sax takes less embochure then a tenor or alto. i find it a lot easier to play. some people though pick up instruments easier then others. there are lots of very awesome tenor players! you just have to decide what ind you're most interested in, listen to different artists like gerry mulligan, charlie parker, coltrain, just to list some of the more famous.
