I spent the day with my son and two friends in York Pa, for a model train meet. A nice diversion from everyday life. We ran into Neil Young, who is an avid train collector, and also part owner of Lionel Trains. We were walking down an aisle, and I said to my son that, was Neil Young who just passed us. He said no way! so we walked over, And I called him, and he stopped and turned around , and I said my son would like to say hello. We shook hands and went on our way My son was really awe struck to have met a music legend, as was my friend, who is in his late twenties. My friend ran into Neil again and asked what kind of train car he would autograph, and Neil told him one of his freight cars with one of his tour logos. My friend searched frantically throughout the hall and found a box car with the 1997 Hoard Tour on it, and the we searched up and down the aisles, and my son spotted him so, my friend asked for his autograph, but no one had a sharpie, so my friend went looking all over for a pen, and the had to relocate Neil, who was just going from place to place checking out the different train displys. I had enough running around, So I said I would meet him outside. He did get the boxcar signed, and he was thrilled. I had met Neil a few times before at previous shows, and I'm not an auotgraph hound, so when we talked to him the first time, I wished him a speedy recovery, as he had collapsed at a recent concert from an anuerism. He is doing fine, and needs some surgery on an eye. He is also working on a new CD. I don't know if this recent incident wil end his tuoring or not, but at least he is recovering. To all the Neil Young fans, at least, he is still making music!

I am intwersted in learning to distinguish the difference between all the different musical key signiatures. Does your site contain any of this info, since I compose music, and don't have a good background in reading music? Thanks, Don

Sorry if I bored you, But I wanted to share a musically related story. Musicians have other interests, and I thought it was pertinant to this forum. Maybe you're not a Neil Young fan, or a train enthusiast, but there may be others out there who share an interest or concern related to this subject. I've not been known to bore people, so thanks for the oppertunity to do something different. Sincerely, Don PS any other opinions out there?

Not boring at all Don. Neil is originally from my home town of Winnipeg. He was to appear last month in Winnipeg at the 2005 Juno awards. The Juno's are Canada's equivalent to the Grammy's. We Winnipegers were devastated to discover that Neil Young would not be able to appear at the Juno's because of his hospitalization. Glad to hear he's up and about.
I found your story rather interesting and I will be sharing it with my guitar teacher on Wednesday as he is a big Neil Young fan as well.

"And?? why did you bore all of us with that really long story?? Yawn, Yawn."

Well, just FYI, I am not a Neil Young or train enthusiast, but found the story interesting anyway. Pardon my French, but mean people suck.

Hmmmm well the army (of course) controls almost all aspects of my life so I guess what I enjoy most besides attempting to learn a few songs is being a paratrooper. I just love the feel of the engines of the C-130 as it shoots up into the air on a short take off loaded with paratroopers. The sound of the doors as they open. It makes such a sucking sound at first and then you just hear the engines and the wind. The call to stand up and hook up. Being at the door and hearing STANDBY!!! and handing my static line to the jumpmaster who hands it to the safety. Looking out into the pitch dark blackness knowing that any second I would required to leap into it. That my countries enemy is waiting for me on the ground and that I would be required to find him and end his life. End his reign of terror on his own people. Then I get the GO!! and I make a good leap from the door. Lock into the jumpers hit it positioning and count to 4. I love the shock of the opening. It lets you know your OK. I can look up and faintly see the outline of a beautiful and full canopy. I make sure my feet and knees are locked together and wait. I cant really see the ground. Its much too dark. I can however see faintly see the horizon and I have trained myself to use it as my guide to know when to drop the alice pack that is in front of my stomach to my knees. below my reserve which Im glad I didnt have to use. Then I then drop it and assume the prepare to land positioning (always seems to be a bit late) so now im laying on the ground gasping for my breath that was knocked out of me as I slam into the ground while unhooking my left riser so the wind doesn't drag me. I check my legs... still work.. check my arms.... yay. I get my M4 combat ready and then and only then do i work my way out of my harness and gather my equipment. We then pretty much attempt to make contact with our team and complete our mission. Since its pitch dark and we are not allowed to use lights of any sort thats a hard task and takes a few more minutes than it really should. We then make our way to our objective. I guess thats my hobby cause its all Ive had time for the last 2 years since I joined. Well I guess it will give me a story to tell when I get old. So what is every one else's hobby besides music?
