I think it's great to be able to compose and write music and I wish you and all your friends the best - maybe one day you'll be on the "charts" - I think that's what it's called.
The only thing I can think of is
GO FOR IT!!!!

I wrote the chords and sang the melody for an entire Mass, called "The Mass of Jubilation", put it on staff paper, and a C/D, and a musician friend of mine who picks my brain constantly for construction advice, and asks for my help with home projects, promised to write the music for me, and that was over two years ago. That's why I am teaching myself to read music. I wrote some music for his twin daughters' first communion, which would have taken him about ten minutes to write, and that was two years ago. I would like to be able to depend on others as they do me, but I guess that's life. Needless to say, none of my music is on paper in the proper notation. This goes for the music I compose for secular use. I just have to keep playing all my songs from time to time so I can remember how they go. Hang in there and keep writing. Don
I am intwersted in learning to distinguish the difference between all the different musical key signiatures. Does your site contain any of this info, since I compose music, and don't have a good background in reading music? Thanks, Don

I don't know if this is possible but, Philadelphia has the Curtis Institute of Music and probably has a program that would be good for you, you could inquire and find out, it's only a stamp. I'm just trying to find a way for you to take music lessons and become independent of other people so that you will be able to compose all the music you can.
In the long-run a good grounding in music would be the best thing. Teaching yourself is not easy and I admire your discipline. Good luck in finding your way, I'm sure you will.

Registered: 3/28/2005 | posted: 4/27/2005 at 7:38:44 PM ET Hey Suzyq, yeah, there are many music teachers in my immediate area, but my problem is twofold, (three, if you count my wife), money and time. I have one son going to college in up state New York, and another one starting in the fall, and a third whom I will be sending to drum lessons, probably as early as this summer. So, itis obvious thar money is tight, or else I'd be going to Petes party myself. My time is stretched so thin with work around the house, three boys all needing me for a host of reasons, and of course, the many hours I spend at church. So until my finances improve, and my time schedule allows, I'll just keep plugging away with the music tutorial Maintube turned me on to. Thanks for all the support, Don

I can only wish you the best and hope you reach your goal of becoming a great composer, and that you will be one day - you've got the desire and determination..
How do you find the time with all your responsibilities? I think some sites that might help you were mentioned in past posts.
If not, maybe someone will be able to suggest a site for you.

8 notes is worth a look, just google for it. The forums are OK ( some Pete posts there) but the ""free sheet music"' is bull..err you know what I mean.
