okay, I am starting to read bass theory but on my sheet music it has right after the bass cleft at the beginning a flat symbol next to it, now does that mean ALL the notes should be played flat?

1 flat means that all B's should be flattened throughout the piece. You can tell what note should be flatted by looking at what line or space the round part of the flat sign is on. Then remember your lines and spaces from bottom to top. GBDFA and ACEG. If there are 2 flats it will be all B's and E's flattened. The way to remember the order of flats is BEADGCF or BEAD Girls Can Flirt.
