I understand that there are four quarter notes in one measure of music with 4/4 time, and 6 eighth notes in one measure of music with 6/8 time, but what happens when there is a whole note in a measure of 6/8 time music. Will the whole note be held through to the next measure?

A whole note shouldn't be used in 6/8 time....a dotted half note is a full measure in 6/8 time

That makes a lot more sense. It was a bad print job, so it probably isn't a whole note. Thanks for answering.
