Ask her to look at some of these web sites.
http://www.songsforteaching.com/references.htm

http://childparenting.about.com/cs/k6education/a/mozarteffect.htm?terms=music

http://www.childdevelopmentinfo.com/development/Mozart_Effect.htm

http://www.splashesfromtheriver.com/music-enhances-learning.htm

These are few of many source about music and learning.
Ask her to talk to a musician you may know (adult) to be an advocate for you.

Hi,

My father was an accompianist, he always said studying an art whether music, dance, singing etc. is a discipline where requires dediaction and pracitce and carries over into whatever else you do. The study of music would believe it or not help in your schoolwork, sports and who knows what else. Probably will help with your math - part of learning music is counting and all that fun stuff. Hope this gives you some ideas.
