being a cellist myself, I can tell you it's pretty much just as difficult as the other string instruments. Generally, string instruments are more difficult to learn than brass, woodwind, and other band-type intruments. They require more skill. You have to focus on positioning with instrument and bow, coordination with each hand, the pressure of the bow on the strings, bow direction and length of bow usage relative to finger movement on the fingerboard, the placement of fingers on the fingerboard, and much more. As for vibrato, it's much more easy on a cello than any other classical string instrument because of the position. I've been playing for about 6 years and I only started getting pretty good after about the 3rd year. It takes a lot of effort and dedication, and you probably will have frustrating moments, but that goes for when you try to learn anything, really. Also, playing an instrument tends to be easier for some than others, if you have the natural talent.
