Hi, I am 15 years old and my new school has suggested to me to learn an instrument. Since I have only years 11 and 12 left at school, and I am looking to join the school orchestra, I was wondering what would be a good instrument to start on, something that is 'easy' to learn but fun to play (I am a quick learner, and I can already play the piano =P). Any suggestions?

You're young enough to experiment. Pick an instrument that interests you personally and try it. If you don't like it, try something else. Don't get hung up on trying to find the perfect instrument for you right away. Bottom line: Play what you like, and like what you play.

With a piano background you might consider Keyboard percussion. Marimba, xylophone ,vibraphone, etc. They are challenging enough for you, but because of your background you should be able to learn them and help your band.

Anonnerz wants to be a contributing factor quickly. With his or her background in piano, keyboard percussion would be the fastest way to become part of a performing group NOW.

i also agree ^^ You'll be able to pick up on it alot quicker.. But if you want to play something else besides that.. then if you're up for the challenge, you can probably pick anything

good luck.
