To all members,

I'm interested in learning how to play the saxophone and I have a couple of questions.

(1) What type should I begin with (Alto, tenor, etc)?
(My budget is $750)
(2) Should I lease first and then buy?
(3) What is better? To learn on my own or to take lessons?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

G

How old are you?
As far as cost a new sax (alto) is around $1500 -$1600 for a good brand. You can get a Sears/ Pennys/ Wal-Mart peice of junk for less, but thats what you have. A piece of junk. A used horn will obviously be less.
Good brands are Yamaha, Conn, King, Bundy, Selmer, Evette.

I would start with alto simply because it is smaller and cheaper. Rent a horn is a ok deal because if ya hate it you can send it back and owe no more on it. Definitely lessons.
