What notes help support the tonic?

Also is it helpful or a good idea to write the notes on the staff when writing a melody and if so why?

thankyou

How else to mark down the melody than with notes on the staff? *Not a question*

I am afraid I didn't quite understand your question.

IS there such a thing as notes that lend support to the tonic when writing a melody?

Are there advantages to writing a melody and writing it down in standard notation?
If so could you elaborate?

Chords are what help support the melodic line, if I understand your question correctly. For example if the first note a melody is C it might be supported by a CMajor chord C-E-G or some variation (CM7th). As far as writing in musical notation, if you want some to be able to read it,it will need to be in musicsal notation, yes.
