I started playing the mandolin a few months ago (to let my parents know that I'm doing something productive) and I'm already getting sick of it, how do I get my parents to buy me an electric guitar (with amp)? They really don't want me to play the electric guitar because they think it'd be too loud, but being the stupid teen that I am, I want to play some GOOD SOUNDING blues with an instrument that actually makes some long lasting sound. My parents are planning on getting me mandolin lessons, so I have to get the guitar quick.
Any ideas?

You could compromise with the loud amp by getting one with a head phone outlet! Plus the blues don't need to be played with the amp cranked. I would start with that. And later you could upgrade your amp for when you gig. I would also recommend a Mexican or japan made Fender Tele they are fairly inexpensive and sound decent for blues and funk. A small amp would do fine. most early blues players used them just remember get one with a head phone output and some head phones!!
Peace!!!!!
