My question is: Can anyone suggest some kind of method or book that would'nt bore my to death? Please not greensleeves again!!!!! AHH!!!

if you have a favorite film or game that you like (for me its final fantasy 10-2) get the music book and it will help inspire you to read music just so you can learn them songs.
this websites tutorials are a big help to me cause i learnt to read music in about 1 hour (maximum) and memorize every thing like what the beats are and different notes mean etc)

place you are. I am learning online at Wholenote.com. Plus
I bought a few "picture" books
so I won't get bored.

NO WAY anyone, except maybe a "savant" can learn to read
music in an hour. It takes
time and study..and lots of
practice-practice-study, ect..

But I strongly recommend that you learn to decipher chord symbols to understand chord progressions.
YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT CHORD PROGRESSIONS!
Ex. I - IV - V7 or ii - V7 - I chord progressions. These are basic chord progressions that are found in all genres of music!
So when you're reading a "lead sheet" you will know how to construct the chords.
For example, the basic blues is a I7 - IV7 - V7 chord progression. You should learn this progression in all keys!
I hope this helps!
