H8 2b the bearer of bad news but it's usually hard & requires a lot of perseverance. For every success in the music world there's a zillion knockbacks. Just look at the charts and you will see it's nothing to do with talent alone!

If you are wanting to get into popular music, the easiest way is to get someone in the industry to come to you rather than you doing all the chasing. To do this, get yourself a band. This can be made up of friends, or someone with similar interests contacted via the web. Playing small local venues very cheaply, or even for free, will expose you to an audience which may well feature talent scouts. For more information I'd suggest writing to someone in music publishing/promotion (find them in yellow pages), enclosing a CD/tape of you singing. You should also considering hiring an agent, but if u do this you may also have to hire a lawyer to look over any contract B4 YOU SIGN ANYTHING as there are a lot of unscrupulous agents about. Ooops! ran outa space!

Most publishers/promoters are very busy & receive hundreds of demos every day so there is a large element of luck involved just to get a reply. Having said that, if u have what it takes, don't give up - they say good things come to those who wait.

Hope this hasn't put you off trying, if it's what you want then go4it, and good luck!
