Registered: 8/3/2003 | posted: 2/3/2004 at 11:23:18 PM ET Oh okay, well that's a different story. Well, that would be harder, obviously, and you can't be too sure if you are accurate or not. Anywho, first you have to determine the time signature. Like if it's 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, etc. Just count and listen, and see what counting fits. It's not 100% guaranteed that you will get it right though, but you will just have to assume. Then once you think you know the time signature, just count each measure. If it's 4/4, you will count "ONE two three four, TWO two three four, THREE two three four, FOUR two three four, FIVE two three four" and you get my drift. I hope that helps.

| posted: 5/15/2013 at 2:17:57 PM ET Do you know of any resources to help with counting measures. If the music does not have a strong pulse I lose count. Playing the triangle there are a lot of rests so I can not follow the melody line on the sheet music - there is none. Right now I play from ear from youtube.com videos. They are some times arranged differently from the band sheet music.
